THis photo essay documents my Families garage and the tools and work that goes on inside of it. 
This cabinet above my dads workbench tells the story the places we have been as a family, the companies that we have used and supported over the years and other local landmarks in the boulder area that we have come to love.

The magnetic strip on the wall of the garage is the place for anything that is used constantly and made of metal, from screwdrivers and knives to special tools and keys that are easy to loose in the huge amount of drawers and storage space.

Our garage has really started to run out of space, which has lead to some interesting solutions around the storage of things like bikes. These Mountain bikes hang in the space above where one of the cars is normally parked, which is not as dangerous as it seems.

THis is a bike that holds a special place in my heart, as i raced on it all throughout highschool. It is a Gary Fischer frame that me and my dad built and i still use when i am at home.

Car maintenance is something that has become very common in my families garage, as we have decided to do much of it ourselves in recent years. Here, my dad removes the lug nuts and wheel from the back right tire of a 2006 Rav4, exposing the brakes and calipers.

My dad looks at the back left wheel of the Rav4 to see if the disk that engages the handbrake is engaging properly.

The tray built into the bottom of the stool in our garage plays temporary home for the all important lug nuts, so that none of them go missing over the course of the maintenance.

after taking off the wheel, the nipple that allows the draining of brake fluid. The brake fluid in this car was the main focus of the maintenance, and as it starts to be drained out of the system, blue fluid starts to drain into the reservoir bottle.

My brother adds new, yellow brake fluid into the reservoir at the front of the car. Making sure that the reservoir does not drop too low and allow water into the system is very important, so that no air is allowed into the brakes.

a wrench holds the drainage tube in place along with a clamp, as the fluid draining into the bottle changes to a yellow color, showing the old brake fluid is nearly out of the system.

My dad uses some replacement pain from toyota to cover areas that have had paint knocked off when scraping ice off of the windows.
